Old Cross PhotoThe Old Cross is located in Chichester City Centre, surrounded by offices and businesses.  To cater for these local workers we open our doors early, at 8.30am, to offer breakfast and coffee.  We close at 9pm in the evening by which time most people have left for home, but we do stay open later for diners when necessary.  We are very well known for our quality food and good selection of draught and bottled drinks.  With a varied food menu there are dishes to suit all peoples tastes.  All the meat is UK reared to ensure good quality.  If you are in the area on a Sunday we recommend coming in for our traditional roast!  Since our refurbishment in November 2007, the Old Cross has much improved.  We now have new fixtures and fittings, tables and chairs, fresh decor and pictures on the walls of scenes from days gone by, including the old town of Chichester.  The pub has an open plan layout with a raised area.  Why not settle down on our leather chairs or comfy sofas whilst trying a fair trade coffee or wholesome bite to eat.  One of our most relaxed areas looks out onto the street through three large windows to the front of the building.  This is an ideal place to sit and watch the world go by.  The pub is steeped in history.  The name comes from the old market cross which was carved in 1503 and is now displayed in the bar.  The pub was burned down and rebuilt in 1928, at which time two random dice were found and set in one of the walls for luck.  Join us soon with friends and family to relax by the original open fire, have a candle lit evening meal or a quality pint at the bar.  If required you can hold a business meeting here or even hire the whole pub for an evening party.  We all look forward to giving you a warm welcome.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
