Drawbridge PhotoLocated alongside a canal drawbridge in Shirley, on the outskirts of Solihull, you will find The Drawbridge.  One of the attractions is to sit at the pub window to watch the bridge going up and down as it lets the canal traffic through.  The pub was built in the 1970s and has been added to and improved over the years.  Today we have large wide windows and displays of hanging baskets outside which have won prizes in local competitions!  The Christmas tree farm opposite adds to the overall look in the Winter snow, which makes a fantastic backdrop.  The facilities for the disabled include very good wheelchair access and disabled toilets.  A little help is required to negotiate the small step to the patio.  There is a bus which brings several young disabled people to us each week.  Our clientele, which includes many women, covers the complete age spectrum.  Canal boaters and foreigners of all nationalities come on their travels.  This is very much a food orientated pub with a very popular main menu and specials board to choose from.  Your meal can be eaten anywhere in the pub or outside in the garden.  We even attract large parties.  The atmosphere is very friendly, comfortable and trouble free.  Just the place to try if you are looking for something new.  See you soon!

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
