The Sun Inn is situated on
the main Swindon to Hungerford road (B4192) on the outskirts of the village
of Liddington. This is a rural area, yet less than a mile from J15 of the M4 and
within four miles of the centre of Swindon. Liddington Castle, an iron age fort,
is located directly behind the pub and it is written that King Arthur won a
major battle against the Saxons there. Originally built in the early 1800’s,
the pub was re-built in 1929 after it was burned down. Today it is a traditional
village pub, serving good food in a relaxed atmosphere. You can choose to
enjoy a quiet drink alone or with friends, or have a cup of coffee whilst surfing the net or doing
some work. We have daily newspapers, magazines,
paperback books and board games available. Fully refurbished in August
2007 the layout is open plan with an informal conservatory restaurant area
to the rear
with a wonderful countryside view where you may even spot a wild deer!!
There are quiet and comfy seating areas with leather sofas. You can dine
throughout the pub, or outside in the large beer garden, weather permitting. All our food is freshly
cooked to order in-house, using local produce wherever possible and locally
reared meat. Our signature dish is a big hit, the ‘Steak on the Stone’
which offers customers the chance to cook a steak to their liking at the table.
You are assured of a warm, friendly welcome from all the team at the Sun
Inn.
