The New Inn
& Old
House Restaurant is situated outside the Cathedral
walls in Salisbury and was originally four houses
which accommodated the builders who constructed the
cathedral. In later years two of the houses were
knocked through, then extended to house a brothel!
Later to that a further extension saw it made into a
public house. In the 1960/'70's all was put together,
hence the name New Inn and Old House Restaurant.
In keeping with it's age it is a very traditional
looking pub with black
beams and white washed walls, open fireplaces as
well as an original wood burner at front of house.
We have the nicest garden in town which adjoins the
cathedral wall giving us a
direct view. We cater for a large volume of
tourists visiting the city and have an extensive clientele
calling in all day for a refreshing drink or a bite
to eat. Many come in at
lunchtime and stay till the evening. As we
have strong links to Salisbury Rugby
Club there is plenty of rugby talk, with many
friends and families linked to the club. We
regularly have military personnel joining us and we support
them with functions. Many dishes on the menu
are homemade and when complemented by a choice wine
or real ale served to perfection this is a meal to
remember! We have
lovely, well humoured staff who talk to
our customers. One is fluent in Polish and
another in French. They dress
smart and you will find our customers take on a
smart casual appearance also. We are a popular
venue for functions and have a good reputation for
catering for either sit down meals, buffets or
BBQ's. Make sure you come and see us soon.
