Steeped in history,
The Rose & Crown is located on Sheep Street, a busy
part of Stratford not far from the Shakespeare Theatre. The pub was built
as a hostelry in 1596 and named the Rose & Crown in 1858. Following a
fire when the whole street burned, it was moved to its present position.
Nowadays this interesting narrow but long building is Tudor in style outside
with old flagstone floors inside. Throughout the day our clientele are
mainly tourists who enjoy a lunchtime break with us having a meal from the main
menu, a house special or the ever popular Sunday carvery. We also welcome
visitors from the theatre before and after the performance. One of the
main features here is the lovely beer garden which has to be tried on a balmy summers
evening. We even have a outdoor seating area which is under cover
for the ultimate indoor outdoor experience. Come and try out this super pub soon and see the history
for yourself.
