quality food, care and service. We have meals to suit all
tastes and requirements. We offer a wide range of tempting
dishes including the famous 'Woodman Pie'. |

ACCOMPANYING
DRINKS |
We have an excellent selection of wines. The Woodman is
owned by a family who have been in the wine business since 1817 and
their personally recommended list offers a choice from both old and new
worlds to suit every taste. There is even a special selection from the
Australian grower who was “discovered” by a member of the family some
years ago on a buying trip and who’s product, once tasted, was swiftly
shipped to Britain. Hot
Chocolate, Speciality Teas & Range of Speciality Coffees. |

The Woodman Inn is set in the heart of Thunderbridge, a small hamlet just south of
Huddersfield and offers a friendly, personal service. Dating from the 19th
Century, the Inn is built from local Yorkshire stone and is surrounded by
nine
acres of mature deciduous woodland. There is exceptionally good walking countryside
in the southern Pennines
nearby, as well as a fascinating choice of attractions to visit a few minutes drive
away. These include Holmfirth, Bronte Country, the Royal Armouries, The
National Mining Museum, The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Chatsworth House, Nostell Priory and Harewood House,
to name but a few. The present owners of the Woodman
bought the Inn in 1996 and in the following year, bought the three adjoining
weaver’s cottages. These were added to the
Inn to provide twelve bedrooms, each of which is fully equipped with en-suite
facilities, telephone, TV, trouser press and a hospitality tray to create a
truly inviting and comfortable Country Inn. Three of the rooms even
have private access. In 2003 a total
refurbishment of the two Bars and Restaurant completed this very stylish, but
still traditional Inn. Being family owned we offer a warm welcome
supported by personal friendly service. Come along soon and enjoy a fine dining experience in either our restaurant or in one of
the two ground floor bars. You may be tempted to prolong your
stay in the comfortable accommodation available.
