Turks
Head Hotel is an old pub, built in 1850 with a listed
front facade of white tiling. Located close to the sea front at Tynemouth
there is one room separated into two distinct lounge and bar areas.
History has it that one of the regulars in the early days was Wandering
Willie and when he died in 1880 the owners of the pub at the time had him
stuffed and displayed in the pub, where he is to this day!! Today we have a
really good mixed crowd from 18 to 80 years old. Although we do not
show all major sporting fixtures, we are very popular when Newcastle games are
televised. The pub is packed at these times with the relaxed
atmosphere becoming much more lively! Weekends are
also very busy as we are part of the circuit of nine pubs on Front
Street. We serve food from a very low priced menu and there is an
excellent selection of real ales and other products available at the
bar. If you are in the area, come and join this sociable venue and
meet Willie, of course!
