The
Prince of Wales is situated about a mile outside Jarrow on
the A194 to South Shields. The pub was built in the 1950's to replace one of the same name just outside the town centre. There is easy access to
the nearby Metro station. The majority of the clientele are local regulars with
some passing trade. The age range covers the whole spectrum with the
daytime attracting women and older couples. Food is chosen from the John
Barras main menu and specials board and can be eaten anywhere in the pub.
The meal deal is particularly popular during the week. Sport enthusiasts
can watch their major matches on the big screen to one end of the room and there
is a pool table and darts board to have a game over a pint with friends.
The evening entertainment, enjoyed by our younger clientele, includes a weekly quiz, karaoke alternating with a
disco. If you haven't been here for a while why not call in and see the
improvements. Ann, the publican, has made many since she came here in 1999. This
is now a trouble free venue which has a really lovely crowd who will welcome all
newcomers. See you soon.
