Bizarre but buzzing, this Sunderland city centre pub is out to make an impact
with customers up for a memorable experience. And it succeeds with a vengeance.
The intelligent lighting system, of the
Baroque,
beamed from the fibre optic eyes of specially
commissioned gargoyles change colour with the time and mood of the day and
night. In keeping with the Baroque theme, the cocktail shooters are concocted on
the Seven Deadly Sins theme. Although the all-day bar food menu may tempt you to
“Gluttony”, there’s scant opportunity for “Sloth” with a live DJ five
nights a week. Even the Quiz night is high-tech, with guess-the-identity
personalities given “gong eyes” on the computer screen. On three
air-conditioned floors, this high quality venue is the happening place for
Sunderland’s student and trendy young, but no sensation-seeker of any age will
feel out place. One not to miss.
