 The
Red Lion
is a proper traditional pub with a lounge and
tap room. History has it that Charlie Peace, an infamous Sheffield
villain, used to drink here. The underground stream which runs beneath
the pub divides the building between Derbyshire and Yorkshire. Legend has it, with the old licensing laws, people used to drink in
one bar and, when time was called, they would migrate to the other bar in
Derbyshire for more time!! Nowadays most of our clientele are regulars
but we are a meeting point for groups and coach parties en route to the
Italian restaurant next door. On a Friday night coach parties on the mystery drinks run
come to sample this locals friendly hospitality!
There is some form of activity going on throughout the week alongside the
ever popular Sport on the big screen so do pop in and sample the inviting
atmosphere for yourself. You will soon become a regular too!
Brian, the publican, has a maxim that you can bring anyone here, ‘your
aunties, your uncles, your cousins – just don’t bring your enemies’!
