The Peacock is situated at the top of a hill on the Buxton to
Sheffield road to the edge of the Peak District. Historically it used to
be owned by the Duke of Devonshire who kept peacocks here, hence the name.
This is very much a destination food house which attracts tourists from all over
the world, in particular America and Japan, along with more local visitors and
cyclists passing en route. Refurbished in March 2008, we have a brighter
look but have retained our traditional olde worlde look. This
stone built pub has two open fireplaces and appears larger inside than it looks on the
outside! Like all Chef & Brewer pubs we employ high quality Chefs who have
superb kitchen facilities. The food can be chosen from a main menu
or unique Specials from the chalk boards which allow our Chefs to show
their flair! You will be served meals which have been prepared
from the freshest of ingredients and cooked to order. To complement your meal there is an
extensive choice of quality wines.
If preferred, three real ales and other drinks are
available at the bar. When looking for a relaxed venue in an idyllic
location with fantastic views (on a clear day!), then you
must try the Peacock soon. The friendly team will
always give you a fine welcome.
