 The Meadows was built in 2001 and is a very family
friendly pub in Wombwell, near Barnsley. It is decorated in
quite neutral colours with touches of brown and the new upholstery, fixtures
and fittings all give it a contemporary feel. The entrance now has new
wooden floor moving to tiles around the bar. Historically this was a coal
mining area which used to have two collieries locally. Nearby is Netherwood
Country Park where you can go for a lovely nature walk and maybe work up an
appetite for a spot of lunch or tea at the Meadows afterwards. This Brewers Fayre, furnished in typical style, is based near a residential area
so we welcome the regular locals and families popping in as well as visitors
staying at the Premier Inn and business people from nearby
companies. Midweek we see a regular lunchtime trade of more
mature customers and business people whilst families come at school
finishing times and weekends. Quality Brewers Fayre food is served at
a reasonable price from an extensive menu and the children's menu has
appetizing choices for our younger visitors. The youngsters love the indoor play area which
is perfect for adults wanting to sit back and relax after a busy day and
during the summer months they take advantage of
the large outdoor play area whilst enjoying the fresh air. Our
staff have been voted the company's 'friendliest staff' in the area via an
internal company poll guaranteeing you a very warm welcome.
In the area:
The neighbouring village of Dartfield is of
interest to many people as it was famed for it's crop circles in 2001
and 2002. For golf enthusiasts Hillies Golf
Course is to be recommended and for those keen on other Sport there is also Wombwell
Recreational Ground, home to Wombwell Football Club, Athletics, Model Air
Club and South Yorkshire Karate Club!
