The Magpie is situated on
the River Thames at Lower Sunbury close to Kempton Race Park and Hampton
Court. With stunning riverside views, a main attraction
here, this venue was first made famous by the charitable organisation ‘the
grand order of water rats’ which was conceived by a group of music hall
stars here at a meeting in 1889. The present organisation includes actors
and musical people such as Bruce Forsyth! Today you can come to unwind
alone, meet up with friends and share a bottle of wine or meet new faces.
We boast an extensive menu of fine quality fresh food from traditional
favourites to modern classics alongside a fantastic range of wines and real
ales. You can dine throughout the bottom bar of this split level venue
and at certain times in the upstairs bar. The upstairs bar is ideal for functions.
Outside there is a riverside terrace bar where you can sit back, relax and watch
the
world go by, soaking up the welcoming atmosphere. We attract a
fantastic mix of people from
office workers and local regulars to visitors from further afield who travel to us because of
this lovely location on the river. The main age group is 25+ and the bar has an over 21's policy.
Families with children are however welcome here for dining mainly at
weekends and in the summer. Come and visit us when you are next in the
area.
