The
friendly team here at The Cock & Bell make
everyone feel welcome at this 300 year old country pub. Ideally situated in the attractive village of Long
Melford, which has the longest high street in Britain, we are centrally
located just 4 miles from Sudbury and 20 minutes from Bury St. Edmunds. In the heart of the antiques industry, people come here to
visit the historical church as well as Kentwell and Melford Halls.
With a warm, friendly atmosphere and timber beams running throughout the Inn,
a traditional style has been maintained even after the refurbishment in August
2003. Food can be served in either the bar or restaurant
and is available all day from a bar menu. This includes
items such as baguettes, ploughman's and snacks, as well as main dishes.
Alternatively you can choose something from
the main menu and specials board which offers an extensive range with
homemade and fish dishes. Vegetarian choices are also presented.
Children are catered for with their own menu and child portions are
available on a good range of dishes. Menus are, however,
flexible and allow us to cater for changes. Our delicious homemade
traditional Sunday roast is cooked fresh to order and comes with a choice
of 3 or 4 meats. We hold our regular weekly quiz,
monthly folk club and have live music occasionally. There are no
TVs in the bar area, but we are happy to bring one down on request for
terrestrial sporting events. Christenings, weddings, birthdays and
all other special occasions can be held here in our function room which
can hold a maximum of 70 buffet style. Whatever your reason for
visiting us here at the Cock & Bell, you can be sure to be
met by helpful staff in a trouble free, friendly atmosphere.
