The Reverend James
is an old building close to the estuary
in the village of Loughor on the south coast of Wales. Swansea is
about nine miles away. Historically, James Buckley was born in 1770 in
Lancashire. He moved to Llanelli at the turn of the century and helped
establish a brewery in the town. He ultimately owned it and it became
Buckley's Brewery. In 1998 Brains Brewery bought it and although
production moved to Cardiff the Reverend James bitter continued in memory of
the man. Today this is a traditional, sociable family friendly pub,
where people come to eat and enjoy a drink and a chat. Food is served
from an extensive main menu with daily specials, always with chicken, fish
and vegetarian options on. There is no loud music and although open
plan, the pool table and darts board are in a separate area. We have
very good disabled access as it is all on the flat with no steps and there
is free wi-fi access so you can come along and surf whilst enjoying a
coffee. Be sure to call in when you are next in the area, taste our
special bitter and enjoy the atmosphere of this very friendly venue.
