The Lewis Arms
is located on the
Taff Trail, close to the historic, fairytale castle called Castell Coch
(pronounced Cork). It is one of three pubs in the quaint, rural
village of Tongwynlais. Built in the 1800’s, this
smart contemporary, yet traditionally classic pub caters for the
local community, cyclists, walkers and visitors to the area.
Outside, this attractive pub is bright yellow with smart flat paving to
the front and a beer garden with round tables and chairs where you can
dine al fresco in the summer. Inside, contemporary decor of
blues, pinks and browns decorate the bar and lounge, the
back of which is where the great Welsh preacher, Christmas Evans, used
to preach. Today, the pub has
developed an excellent reputation for food. You can choose
your meal from an extensive main menu or homemade Specials board and
finish it with a traditional, handmade pudding such as the delicious
apple pie. You can dine throughout the pub or outside in the
summer, weather permitting. Accompany your meal with a choice real ale,
an extra cold lager or a fine wine and you will have a day to remember.
Sport shown on the big screens and impromptu quiz nights run by the
manager make this a fun pub to visit. Come along soon to this
relaxing venue where the local regulars help to make newcomers feel very
welcome.
