The Greenhouse is located next to St
Michaels & All Angels Church in Llantarnam where the Victoria Cross holder, John William Fielding,
on whom
the film 'Zulu' was based, is buried. It is also close to Llantarnam Abbey, a monastic
institution operated by the Sisters of St Joseph of Annecy.
Refurbished in January 2008, the pub was built in 1719 and the front of the
building is Grade II listed. Inside is open plan with a restaurant
area where traditional pub food can be chosen from a main menu or Specials
board. A selection of real ales, plus draught beers and quality wines
are available to enjoy on the comfortable seating. If you are lucky
you may meet up with the ghost of an old landlady who is rumoured to roam the pub!
Outside there is a field sized garden with benches and umbrellas which is a
popular spot during the long hot days of summer. Why not call in next
time you are close by and enjoy a real Welsh welcome.
