The
Britannia Inn is situated in the
picturesque village of Llanmadoc on the north
western coast of the Gower Peninsula
- Britain's first designated "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty".
The pub is probably the best preserved 17th Century Inn in the area and boasts its original
fireplace and bread oven. It has lounge beams taken from ships which were led
by beacons and lanterns
ashore by wreckers posing as harbour men for their valuable cargo! Outside there are good
sized beer gardens to the front and rear along with an acre of land
beyond! During the warmer months we hold regular barbecues which are
light hearted and great fun. The gardens offer awe inspiring views over
the Loughor Estuary. Catering for families with children of
all ages there is an enclosed play area with games and a menagerie of
small creatures such as rabbits, ducks, budgies and canaries to help
keep the youngsters amused.
Head Chef Martin
Davies and his partner Lindsey Vellacott have travelled extensively,
covering all the main continents of the World. They have
worked in a number of fine dining restaurants and major hotel groups,
including the Marriott, Hilton and Radisson groups and also more exclusive
establishments such as Newport's Celtic Manor. Now settled back in their native Gower, the knowledge gained
from their experiences, along with their passion and drive to create fine food,
influence their cuisine. Offering a mix of traditional dishes allied
with more exotic fare, they are striving to create a little corner of
culinary distinction and service par excellence in this beautiful part
of South Wales.
The
Britannia Inn gives a very warm welcome to all. The
local regulars and friendly staff will go out of their way to
make you feel at home when you are down this way!
