The Royal Oak
is located
about four miles west of
Taunton in the rural village of Hillcommon on the B3227 to Wiveliscombe. There is easy access from
Junction 25
at Taunton and Junction 26 at Wellington on the M5. We are also on a regular
bus route (the No.25) which has a Sunday service. Set in the stunning
Somerset countryside we are close to the Blackdown and
Quantock Hills, the Somerset Leves and Moors, Brendon Hills, Wellington and Taunton. This secluded old
Coaching Inn has retained a lot of it's original features such as timber
ceiling beams, wood panelling and fireplaces. People flock
from miles around to try our expertly kept cask ales from a
cellar man passionate about real ales. No compromises, no
corners cut, quality guaranteed every time. The very
popular lunchtime carvery is available 6 days a week. Home
cooked food which is freshly prepared and cooked to order, is
also offered from light snacks to full meals and range from Somerset
gammon steak to homemade beef lasagne verdi or traditional beer
battered fish and chips. Food can be enjoyed throughout the
pub, in our 110 cover restaurant or al fresco in the sunny walled garden during the warmer months.
Add a choice wine or quality real ale to complement your meal
and you will have a time to remember. A warm welcome
awaits at this friendly inn.
