Greyhound Inn Staple Fitzpaine, Taunton

The creeper-clad Greyhound Inn stands in the tucked-away rural hamlet of Staple Fitzpaine.  Built in the 16th century this venue was originally a Coaching Inn overlooking the church within easy reach of Taunton, five miles away and a ten minute drive from Junction 25 of the M5.  This pretty pub has been extended over the years into a series of rambling, inter-connecting rooms providing a rustic mix of flagstone floors, old timbers and natural stone walls. There is plenty of original character, ample seating throughout, candle topped tables and open winter fires to provide an instant welcome to diners - in fact people travel from all over to dine here.  There is very much a calm, informal and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy your real ale or choice of meal.  This is a true haven for leisure seekers as the Blackdown Hills, which overlook the village, are perfect for long walks and taking in the local scenery - making us a great base for your day's walking A golf course can be found nearby and horse riding can be arranged. In addition there is Castle Neroche, Hestercombe Gardens, Fleet Air Museum, Longleat Safari Park and Cricket St Thomas, all close by. The coasts of Devon and Dorset are also within comfortable driving distance.  With so many places to see and things to do this is a destination food house not to be missed.
