The Crown Inn
is located by a
popular nature reserve in the beautiful picturesque village of Catcott.
We are just a ten minute drive from Clarks Village outlet shopping centre, in Street.
Built in the 17th Century, this traditional pub was originally a cider house
used by the workers on the peat moors. With oak beams, thick stone
walls and open fires there has been little need to change over the years -
this is a great pub to come and absorb the atmosphere and receive a warm
welcome. Outside there are two gardens set in approx ¾ acre
of land making this a fantastic destination pub in summer where you can enjoy a quiet drink
and the children can play without disturbing you, as there is also an
outdoor play area. This was one of the
first pubs in the area to start doing pub food 30 to 40 years ago - remember the old
scampi in a basket and chicken in a basket?! Today, good homemade food is served
using locally reared meats
and local produce wherever possible. There are regularly changing
seasonal menus and a vast array of daily specials. Choices vary from hearty winter meals to salad bowls and lighter
options in the summer. The delicious Sunday Carvery is available with all
the accompaniments
including homemade Yorkshire Puddings and gravy made from the meat juices. Children
have their own menu with freshly made choices such as sausage & mash,
small ham egg & chips etc. Table service is offered in the dining
room or you can enjoy your meal informally in the bar area. If you are
looking for a place to hold a party we have a newly refurbished function
room which can cater for your every need from an economic buffet to a full
banquet. Come and enjoy a pint of quality ale or a refreshing drink
from the bar at this well known venue which people in the know travel from
farther afield to enjoy. |
