The Shakespeare is located in the centre of Edinburgh. It
is one of the oldest pubs in the City and was built at the same time as the
theatres were erected to cater for the actors and theatre crowds of that
age. Refurbished in March 2007, we have new comfy seating and fixtures and
fittings, tables and chairs etc. Today, this pub attracts a cosmopolitan crowd and, rather
unusually for a City Centre venue, a really good base of regulars.
Shoppers, business people, students and tourists come to this trouble free and
female friendly pub for their lunch, served from a main menu and specials board
to be eaten anywhere in the bar. Sport is
very important here and we show anything and everything with the emphasis being
on football. We have an eight foot and ten foot screen at either end of
the one bar area so there is no chance of missing the goal! With so much
on offer, along with a weekly quiz and fortnightly karaoke, come along soon and
enjoy a good sociable night out. Everyone at the Shakespeare looks forward
to seeing you.
