The Jolly Sailor is a traditional English pub, situated near the Quay at
Orford, part of the lovely Suffolk Heritage Coast. This atmospheric old
smugglers' inn is timber-framed, the wood coming without doubt from ships
wrecked on the nearby Orfordness, Europe's largest vegetated shingle spit. You
may be interested to know that Orford has no beach, no amusements or
"fast" food. We offer traditional food including Orford's finest fresh fish such as Cod,
Skate and Rock Eel, also a range of our own recipe dishes. The SEAFISH Authority
acknowledge the quality of our fish dishes. "The Best Fish & Chips in
Town" - Sunday Express, 20th February 2000. The beer comes from Adnams of
Southwold. Limited Bed & Breakfast accommodation is available. We are proud to be recommended in "The Good Pub Guide", the AA Pubs
& Inns Guide, the "Which?" Guide to Country Pubs, "The Quiet
Pint" and others. N.B. Children under 14 are not allowed in
our Bar.
