Fighting Cock PhotoSituated on the picturesque banks of the river Darent, with a variety of wild and tame animals-ducks, geese, chickens, doves, budgies, owls and goats.  The Fighting Cocks has been a pub since 1818.  It was named in 1821 by John Muggeridge after several offences for cock fighting.  Although the sport was prohibited in 1849, clandestine meetings were held many years after, and the cockpit remained until the mid twentieth century.
