The Coach & Horses is a 16th century coaching inn with traditional wooden beams & open fire places.  It is a listed building of considerable architectural & historical importance.  It appears to have been built not later than 1650 and shows Dutch style of architecture on the gabled front, tiled roof and open fireplace. The Dutch influence was brought to East Anglia by Flemish weavers who established themselves in this area.  In the public bar, the unusual old settees, with twisted iron ceiling stays were probably installed about 1840 or earlier.  Roof timbers are original as is also the front entrance porch construction with box room above and the interior is appropriately furnished and presents an interesting and attractive atmosphere for the enjoyment of hospitality in comfortable surroundings reminiscent of the old days.
