 The Wheel
Inn is situated on the southern edge of the East Sussex High Weald
which in itself is part of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The area was producing iron in Roman times and had a thriving iron industry
until its collapse at the end of the eighteenth century when the locals returned
primarily to agriculture, although from 1700 to 1840 smuggling appeared to
employ a large number of people and there are still caves in Hastings describing
the smugglers activities. We are a free house with real British cask conditioned
real ales as such our selection does vary. We always stock Harveys of Lewes a
traditional Southern Beer brewed using whole local hops & include Fullers London Pride
brewed at Chiswick and Bass, "Britain's Finest Ale". We also sell a
good selection of draught lagers, bottled beers, spirits, mixers etc.
