The Kings Arms is a family run, village pub with good community
spirit and a friendly atmosphere, offering good beers
and fine food. Situated in the Avon valley we located within 5 minutes
drive of the New Forest, 5 miles from the historic cathedral & market town of
Salisbury and just 20 minutes away from Stonehenge. Bournemouth beach is
less than an hours drive away.
Parts of the Kings Arms allegedly dates back to the 13th century and has a
Priests Hold. Now we offer modern facilities in a well kept, traditional
environment with real log
fires burning throughout the winter and beer garden to enjoy the best of the
summer weather. You can sample some excellent home cooking, which is
prepared every day from fresh ingredients, using local suppliers whenever
possible. The separate games room caters for anyone
wanting to watch sky sport or play a game of pool or darts. There is also
a screen in the lounge and we can bring in another screen for major matches.
We are in an ideal location with views of the church, the area is wonderful for
walking and hiking, with lovely walks in the forest and water meadows to be
found. Fishing is a major sport in the area and we were once one of the
best course fishing sites in England, a lot of fisherman take advantage of our
comfortable accommodation on offer at The Kings Arms. Take the A338
Salisbury - Bournmouth Road, we are in Downton on a bend in the High Street.
It would be a pleasure to see you if you are visiting the delightful village of
Downton.
