Dolphin Photo

Dolphin Photo Mandy, Paul and family welcome you to The Dolphin, a 16th Century  Public house situated in the village of Hursley, near Winchester.  Recently restored and expanded, utilizing a previously disused stables &  barn.  The Dolphin now has a dining room, a new kitchen & a re-designed bar.  Built in 1540-1560, reputedly from the timbers of the HMS Dolphin previously in service with the Royal Navy, giving the pub its name.  The pub initially had only 3 chimneys, but over the years another 4 were added because of its increase in size. The Dolphin used to have stabling for horses & carriages as well as its own blacksmiths workshop and a smallholding of farmland.  The top floor used to be accommodation for travelers, whilst the rear ground floor area was the Landlords living quarters. The Dolphin used to belong to Hursley Manor and in 1953 it was sold to Strongs Brewery of Romsey. During the next 45 years, the farmland was sold & the pub was acquired by Whitbread when they purchased Strongs Brewery.
