The Blackbird is a stand alone pub situated just off the main
road in the large village of Ponteland, close to the city and Newcastle Airport.
This very attractive stone building dates back to the 14th Century! It was
originally a castle which was burned down during the battle of Otterburn and
later rebuilt. Today this is a John Barras style pub, traditional inside
with a big bar where Sport can be viewed and a smaller tunnel bar which is a
quiet area with no TVs. Food is increasingly popular with a good choice
available from the main menu and specials board. We are happy to take
orders in advance to reduce the waiting time and business people find this
particularly helpful in organising their busy schedules. Food can be
enjoyed anywhere in the pub or outside in the beer garden to the rear or the
patio to the front. Both these areas are really good chill out places
during the summer months. We attract a fine base of regular locals, young
people and families, all appreciating the relaxed easy going, trouble free and
female friendly atmosphere. There is a function room for all private
parties and business meetings which can cater for up to 40 people. Come
along soon and maybe try the quiz night or just have a quality drink at the
bar. The friendly team look forward to your visit.
