Friar Tuck was erected on the site of an old 19th Century farm building
which was pulled down in the 1960s. Rumoured to have two ghosts it retains a traditional style, although
without the beams etc. The open plan bar, which is in the shape of a large
C, includes a sports section to one end with TVs and pull down big screen.
This enables all the important matches to be seen from anywhere in the pub. Friar
Tuck is predominantly a community pub with a trouble free, female friendly
atmosphere which invites a fair amount of passing custom, especially in the
summer. There is always something going on here from raffles and charity
events to sports teams meeting, quizzes and barbeques. The staff make everyone
feel welcome and there is good natured banter between them and the
regulars. It is worth noting that only children over 14 years are allowed
inside the pub. Food is very popular with a two for one offer on all main
meals and
drinks promotions are well worth coming for. The Sunday roast is a
particular favourite, so if you are late, you may well miss it! Come along
soon and see this friendly venue for yourself.
