 Sir Pickering Phipps is roughly a
mile from Northampton town centre, on the Wellingborough road. Being one of the main arteries into the
town centre, people do the ‘Welli Road Run’ on a Friday and Saturday
night, starting at one end (where we are) and working their way down into
town. The pub has been here since December 1998 when McManus Pub Co. bought
some shops and transformed it into a pub. James has been the landlord
since the opening so you can be sure he knows his local trade. There
is a traditional pub feel about the place. It is all one room with a
smaller raised seating area with fixed comfy leather seating. Food is
served from a main menu and Specials board with a children's section for our
younger visitors. All is cooked to order and can be eaten anywhere
throughout the pub. There is a good mixture of people from office
workers and passers by spending their lunchtime with us to Sport enthusiasts
who join us to watch the big match on the plasma screens. Come and visit us when you're next down this way.
