The Grove is located just
across the road from the new Graham Sutherland gallery in the city of
St Davids. This lovely corner of Wales boasts one of the oldest cathedrals in Britain
and is more like a village with beautiful coastal walks and
lovely beaches just on the doorstep. The hotel is a Grade II listed building,
Georgian in style and was originally an old Coaching House. Having had
a major refurbishment in Spring 2008 there is a tasteful, homely feel
throughout with modern touches and a feeling of space and not being too crowded.
There is a mixture of
traditional and contemporary styling with black slate tile floors, high ceilings
and original cornices. Features such as two open fires are to be found in the restaurant and
a double sided gas fire in the conservatory, each of which have about 50
covers. The accommodation has been refurbished to the same high standard, with
crisp white bed
linen and throws. The outside area is just as charming, with a large olde worlde
walled garden offering plenty of seating and an area
just off the restaurant specifically for al fresco
dining. This has a Mediterranean feel with hanging
baskets, metal tables and chairs with parasols.
Food served at the Grove Hotel is of good quality,
freshly bought, prepared and cooked on the premises.
There is a separate bar menu and restaurant a la
carte menu which change daily to give frequent
visitors variety every time they visit. There
is also a regularly changing Specials board
incorporating homemade fish dishes. The fish
is locally sourced. To accompany your meal we
have a good range of wines, white, reds and roses,
champagne and sparkling wines. Come and treat
yourself to a memorable meal at the Grove next time
you are in the area. |
