Come and take part in our new English Ale Festival, running until the 28th May. As well as a number of English cask ales you can request us to source locally brewed beers! In addition to superb beers we have launched a newsletter with lots of helpful information. You can also take part in our collector scheme, whereby if you purchase 9 festival bitters you will be entered into a free prize draw to win a limited edition glass tankard engraved with the Festival logo.

Game Bird PhotoLocated en route to Haydock Racecourse in Eccleston, you will find The Game Bird, formerly known as the Royal Oak.  Fully refurbished to a high standard in October 2007 to offer a more upmarket venue, the decor is stylish with greens, coppers & creams being prevalent, along with big print wallpaper and chandeliers.  We have unearthed a fire place and put in a real fire, which is a fantastic new feature.  With wireless internet access available you are more than welcome to come and enjoy a coffee and maybe surf the net or do a bit of work online.  There are leather bucket seats and sofas, so you can relax in comfort.  The grand staircase leads up to the 75 cover restaurant, where we offer full table service.  You could also choose to dine downstairs.  Our menu is a modern British concept, offering a range of freshly prepared dishes all cooked to order.  Alongside this we have an extensive specials board which includes a selection of fish dishes.  We are now a great venue for couples out for a drink or to dine.  So if you visit alone or with friendly the helpful team await your visit and you can always be assured of a warm welcome.
