Fox & Hounds PhotoSituated in the conservation area of Barnston, the present Fox & Hounds pub was built about 1911 on the site of an Ale House & Barn.  Licensee Ralph Leech converted downstairs living accommodation into drinking space in 1984, still retaining a lot of the original Edwardian character such as pitch pine woodwork and leaded windows.  An assortment of memorabilia is displayed around the pub, with collections including brass ashtrays (85), Horse brasses (125), Empty whisky cases (135), Ceramic ashtrays (30), a collection of Police helmets and other hats, Plates, Bottles (150), Guinness clocks and many other items of interest.  During the summer at the back of the pub you can take advantage of the outdoor drinking areas, which are a profusion of colour with flower tubs and hanging baskets.  Good food is served daily from a superb menu of bar snacks which includes platters, toasted ciabattas and baked potatoes.  Alongside this there is a selection of popular seasonal Daily Specials such as beef pies, lamb shank, fish of the day, lasagne and other delights prepared by the hardworking chef and team of kitchen staff.  "The Fox" serves a range of 6 well kept real ales, over 60 whiskies and 5 lagers. It also sells sensibly priced wines including 12 wines by the glass.  Everyone at the Fox looks forward to seeing you soon.
