Childe of Hale PhotoThe Childe Of Hale is a traditional, large village pub named after a famous local resident who was a staggering 9ft 3in tall!  He was the bodyguard to King James I and you can visit the house where he lived, as well as his grave, in the village.  Hale is a picturesque area, popular with walkers enjoying the beautiful scenery along this coastal section of the Pennine Walk.  The pub itself attracts a good mixture of locals and visitors who are drawn by the excellent range of beers, delicious food and weekly shown sport.  Meals can be chosen throughout the day from a comprehensive menu with an additional children's selection.  This means that there really is something to suit all ages and tastes.  You can complement the memorable meal with a glass of wine, tea, coffee or beer from the bar.  Outside we present both a good seating area and children's play area.  The ideal place for any summer weekend.  Come rain or shine the staff and regulars at Childe of Hale will make your visit a very pleasant one.
