 The Shakespeare is located in the centre of Manchester, adjacent
to Primark, within easy access of trams, buses and ten minutes from the main
railway station. Historically, the complete pub was moved from Chester in
1926 where it was known as the Shambles. Today it still has the black and
white Tudor facade, old wooden floors, oak beams and even a ghost, believed to
be a kitchen maid! The clientele include shoppers, office workers, foreign
visitors and a good base of regular locals. For those with limited time
for lunch, food is served downstairs with no delay. Your traditional
English or more modern choice of food can be eaten anywhere in the pub or
upstairs in the restaurant. This area can also be booked for private
parties. At weekends we are part of the city circuit, attracting a younger
crowd who enjoy the friendly, trouble free environment. Come along soon if
you are close by and be entertained in this sociable pub. What we lack in
decor we make up for in atmosphere!
