DINING AT OUR PUB |
|
Traditional English Fayre, all British sourced, cooked to order
& homemade, served from our regularly changing main menu,
lunch menu & bar menu. We have fantastic
sausages, free range chicken, simple fresh seafood - all sourced from producers who take pride in their
products and an ethical stance in their production
with an emphasis on seasonal produce.
Old favourites on any pub menu include Steak &
Young’s Ale Pie and Catch of the Day in beer
batter, but for those of you looking for something a
little different we’ve got fresh and interesting
salads, fresh fish and a full BBQ menu too.
In our Tapestry Dining Room you can experience
something completely different, with our Grill Stone
Steaks - served on volcanic rock so the steak cooks
in front of you at the table.
If you still have room, you won’t be able to resist
our homemade desserts, or perhaps a local cheese
board. |

The garden is stone paved and has many tubs & full boarders. Whether
you’re playing a game of chess, having a family meal or doing Uni work,
the garden is the ideal location. Trapping the sun from midday round to
early evening there is no place and no better way in Canterbury to spend
those lazy afternoons. The fire pit and great BBQ make it difficult to
stay inside, even in the winter months. |

Hidden
away down a picturesque cobbled street in
Canterbury, The Parrot is a beautiful
Grade ll star-listed building dating back to the 14th Century.
Steeped in history this pub was originally known as St Radigunds Hall
and was built
on Roman foundations in 1370 just inside the Roman
City Wall. At some point St Radigunds Hall became
Simple Simons. It was bought in 2008 by Young &
Co.'s Brewery plc of Wandsworth - their first pub in
this area of Kent. Following a sympathetic
refurbishment the Parrot is now a stunning drinking
and dining venue in the heart of Canterbury.
Young’s renamed the pub the Parrot after hearing
local rumours that it went by this name in previous
centuries! Externally The Parrot looks every
inch the traditional beamed pub - this is reflected
inside too with a traditional colourful look
featuring three open fires and a tasteful Tapestry
Dining Room. The first floor restaurant shows
the brilliant (and lasting) craftsmanship of the
medieval period, with its oak knees, futtocks and
three crown posts. Today this building
continues to stand strong and remains a fine example
of a Wealden Hall House, and one of Canterbury’s
most interesting pubs. There is much to see
and do in Canterbury with many historical structures
in the city from various periods of history such as
the Roman city wall, St Augustine's Abbey and a
Norman castle. The Parrot has a very safe and
calm environment - always great. This
great pub has a stunning décor and, outside, a
walled garden and BBQ. Offering fine dining,
cask beers and exclusive wines - what
more do you need from a pub? The Parrot is just
waiting to be discovered! |
