Wellington PhotoThe Wellington offers a warm welcome to all our valued customers at this 700 year old former Coaching Inn.  Situated in the genuine old village of Welwyn it has recently undergone a complete transformation.  We have stripped away all the old internal plasterboard to reveal beautiful 16th century fireplaces and beams.  This has given it a new radical and romantic style with scrubbed floors, Green Oak, Lime Mortar, Pewter, Zinc and Lead.  The loud TVs and noisy juke box have all gone.  Externally we have re-created the garden, so you can fully enjoy the river Mimram at the bottom of the garden.  Steeped in history, a famous guest who stayed here in the 1600s was the diarist, Samuel Pepys.  Now a food house which is building up a good reputation, we serve wholesome, simple British food with a twist from a main menu which includes favourites such as beef & Guinness pie and cod 'n' chips, alongside specials boards which are displayed from meat hooks in the bar.  With a greater emphasis on wine, our list offers virtually the complete collection of world class wines produced by McLaren Vale wine makers d'Arenberg as well as classics such as Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc.  We pride ourselves on the standards of service we offer and will endeavour to make your visit a memorable one.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
