The Sun is a traditional coaching inn which has been an important landmark of historic Hitchin since the 1500s. Today’s hotel features 32 comfortable en-suite bedrooms including two feature rooms, one with a four-poster for those special occasions. An excellent menu is served in the newly refurbished restaurant, and the adjoining Cromwell’s Bar provides a lively atmosphere to enjoy an ale or a fine wine.

CROMWELL'S CAFE BAR

Across the courtyard is Cromwell's Cafe Bar a separate venue with an external patio area with seating. Ideal to enjoy a coffee, to use the internet or watch TV, with low key music in the background.
We serve Tea, Coffee, Full range of draught beers, bottles, wines & spirits.
Evenings it is a bit more of a Cafe Bar which is used for live music events and screening sky sports.

We offer a range of dining experiences from lighter bar meals to sophisticated a la carte meals. Our chefs provide a range of freshly prepared meals including a variety of traditional British favourites in addition to a selection of innovative and interesting dishes. Daily changing house Specials compliment the core menu. From tasty main courses such as 'Pan-seared Barbary Duck Breast served with Blackberry & Vintage Port sauce' to light bar snacks such as 'Hand-carved Norfolk Ham & Free Range Eggs', whichever you choose, your taste buds will be satisfied.

The Sun Hotel is a popular place to stay and is licensed to hold civil weddings and naming ceremonies. This allows for the ceremony, reception and overnight stay to be under one roof. The Ballroom has ample space for a large party of up to 120 people for all special occasions. With 5 meeting rooms, we are also a popular place to hold conferences, meetings and training courses, supplying full facilities. The hotel has 32 en-suite comfortable rooms all with individual character and full modern facilities including TV and mini stereo. There are two feature rooms available having either a four poster or sleigh bed, both with wide screen and DVD player for your entertainment. As well as the hotel bar, Cromwell's Cafe Bar across our courtyard is a separate venue, in the evenings the atmosphere is livelier with live music events held there and Sky sports shown, so it's a great place to relax away from the hotel bar. Cuisine is on offer from our own varied Brasserie menu. Vegetarians are well catered for and the menu is flexible where dishes can be changed to fit special dietary requirements.
