The Land of Liberty Peace & Plenty
is a star among pubs located half a
mile from Junction 17 of the M25 in Heronsgate.
Built in the 1820's, it was the local beer shop before becoming a three
roomed pub in the 1870's. It has undergone various
changes over the years and as the repairs and renewals continue many
points of interest and features are being found, these are preserved wherever
possible. In March 2008 the salvaged
bar from the
tasting room of the closed Grand Union Brewery
was added to the pub! Outside,
there is an area open behind the pub which is ideal for groups, parties,
outdoor dining and enjoying a drink with friends. There is also a
covered pavilion in the large garden.
Live music is held
occasionally in the bar, and in the garden during summer. Quality homemade lunches are served using locally sourced produce wherever
possible and there are bar snacks available all day. Your meal can
be complemented by a good wine or a choice real ale if you prefer.
The owners of the Land Of Liberty, Peace and Plenty pride themselves on the quality of
their real ales which
are served in oversized glasses for a full liquid pint.
This is a place where the residents and locals enjoy hearing from people who have family connections with the pub,
and have put families in touch across the globe to help them trace
family trees!
Gill and
Martin consider
that they are running and living in a community service as well as a
business, hence they sell various items unusual for a pub (in the absence
of a village shop) and help out their neighbours whenever possible.
This is a venue to put on your 'must try soon' list so come and meet
Duchess, the special pub dog along with the
welcoming team at the Land of Liberty Peace & Plenty.
