Chef & BrewerThe Hatch is to be found on the A30 in Old Basing with easy access from Junction 5 southbound or Junction 6 northbound of the M3 motorway.  Old Basing is steeped in history with King Etheldred and his brother, Alfred having reportedly fought here against the Danes.  The pub was built in 1857 and Cavaliers held out for two years at Basing House during a civil war against Parliament which was the longest siege Britain has ever known.  Today we are a popular food led pub with 32 tables inside and a further 40 available to dine al fresco during the warmer weather.  Like most Chef & Brewers, the pub has lots of character with nooks and crannies offering privacy and real log fires lit for winter warmth.  The majority of the pub is non smoking for your comfort.  Make this your destination soon to enjoy a special, tasty meal, complemented by a choice wine or real ale if preferred.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
