| REFURBISHMENT | We have recently had an extensive refurbishment in Spring 2010. Still a Chef & Brewer dining venue, we serve traditional home cooked fayre.  The Bridge, set in the rural location of Shawford village, sits beside the River Itchen which flows from Winchester to Southampton. Opposite the railway station on the main Waterloo to Southampton and Bournemouth line, the pub is famous for being the place where Victor Meldrew died in the final episode of TV's 'One Foot in the Grave'! Meals here are freshly prepared and cooked to a high standard with an excellent choice of specials alongside a range of daily changing fish dishes. During the summer months your meal can be enjoyed al fresco in the garden or on the terrace beside the river. Inside there are nooks and crannies to sit in privacy, two real fires for winter warmth and candles lit on the tables for that personal touch. There is an excellent choice of wines to accompany your meal or, with Cask Marque accreditation and the Beautiful Beer Gold Award, a real ale can be served to perfection!
