White Swan, VictoriaThe White Swan sells itself on style and is a beautiful, truly English, pub based around a traditional meeting place in the Victoria area of London.  It is open plan, all wood with stone floors.  Historically it is situated on the edge of Dickens Acre, the part of London where Charles Dickens based most of his novels.  The first landlord of the White Swan was a Mr Joseph in 1759.  Mill Bank Prison used to be nearby and the significance is that convicts were first sent to Australia from there.  The prison stood where Tate Britain is today!  Good pub food can be chosen from a varied main menu, and there is an impressive selection of wines and champagnes available to complement the meal.  For the connoisseurs of real ale there are 6 to choose from.  Our clientele range from senior civil servants and MPs during the week to mainly tourists at the weekends.  This is a comfortable, relaxed venue where single ladies feel able to come in alone.  The great team of staff greet everyone who comes to the pub with the same warm, personal welcome.  When you next come to London, make sure you visit the White Swan to receive that special welcome.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
