Two Chairmen pub St. James, London. Two Chairmen Public House is situated in the centre of London, two minutes walk from Parliament Square and the Cabinet War Rooms and even closer to St James' Park.  This fascinating olde worlde pub is steeped in history and retains many features of the past.  It was rebuilt in 1756 and the name relates to that time when, like a taxi rank or bus stop, people would be picked up in a sedan chair and carried by two men to their destination.  Inside there are original oak beams and old fireplaces along with a mural behind the bar depicting three scenes from the 18th Century.  Local business people spend their lunch breaks here having a meal or a drink with colleagues whilst others drop in after work for a drink in the early evening.  Tourists also find this an interesting venue.  Upstairs there is the Sedan Room which can be hired for private parties and the whole pub can be booked at the weekend for larger 'dos'.  Unspoilt by loud music, TVs and the like, this is a pub where good conversation, fine food and excellent ale can be enjoyed to the full in a warm, friendly atmosphere.  It is the hidden jewel tucked away from the general gaze!  Call in soon and meet the helpful team.
