The Rising Sun is the only pub on the left hand side of the high street in Eltham.  The building dates back to the 16th century.  The pub was moved a few yards down the road onto the original site of another pub and opened its doors as the Rising Sun on 23rd October 1904.  There are beautiful features such as etched windows and extra etchings within the pub.  Suspended in the air is a Victorian plasterwork with the sun rising on it.  There is a horseshoe shaped bar in the centre surrounded by the customer area.  It is like stepping back in time to how a traditional English pub used to be unlike the modern themed bars with TVs disrupting conversation.  Well known on the high street, we are a trouble and drugs free venue with a charm known to all local people.  During the day we get many office workers, shoppers and regulars in as well as passers by.  With the Bob Hope Theatre just up the road and Greenwich a few minutes' bus ride away we are and ideal stop off point for a meal or just a drink.  Although we have a mixture of ages 20 - 80 years the average tends to be about 35.  Evening entertainment includes a weekly live music and karaoke.  Call in soon and meet the friendly staff and regular locals at this comfortable pub.
