The
Peterborough is a stylish,
contemporary venue with original features, situated on the new Kings Road,
very close to Kings Road shopping and easy travelling to and from central London.
We are close to attractions
such as the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament and only one tube
stop away from Earls Court and Olympia. Chelsea football club is
close by as are many 5 star hotels. If you are in the area
or planning a special trip, make sure you visit this friendly venue. Inside
there are floor to ceiling big bay windows overlooking Eel Brook
Common with Parsons Green just 100 yards away. Large double doors open
into the pub and big spiral staircases through the main bar sweep up to the
first floor function room and another one down to the lobby area and toilets.
A huge chandelier is in the middle with an open real wood or coal burning
fire. There is an original fireplace on each floor with wonderful
wrought iron features. Seating areas offer a mixture of soft leather
sofas, big wooden tables and dining furniture. We attract an eclectic mix of
people who come for a lunchtime break, meetings, an after work drink or an informal
meal. This Gastro pub offers food from a regularly changing main menu, along with
snack boards and bar nibbles. There is something for all tastes, freshly made
including our range of handmade pies which are delicious. Sunday lunch is
special with a choice of two or three roasts including a succulent cut of lamb which
is either shoulder or leg. We can cater for any events, all occasions from engagement
parties and weddings to business functions and conferences in the beautiful
function room which is suitable for up to 120 people, buffet style.
The menu and style of the place was
gradually changed to
what it is today. We look forward to welcoming you to this stunning
pub soon.
History: The
building was owned by the Earl of Peterborough in the
18th Century and he turned part of the mansion into a public house. The earliest
record to date of someone using the pub was the mid 1700’s. From then on it was
known as the Peterborough. The Earls original crest can be seen above the front
door of the pub. The bus stop outside was originally the coach stop for
wagons and horses. The structure of the building has remained the same
since it was developed as a pub. The only changes have been to the internal décor. Early
pictures of the pub can be seen on the walls.
