The
pub is built alongside the River Pickle. The story goes that Nelson
was sailing on his ship with his Captain, by the name of Hardy. In
1805 he was shot by the French and was noted saying "Kismet"
(fate). It's therefore not too unlikely that he said "Kismet
Hardy" to the Captain. The Captain answered "Oh no certainly
not". "Then", replied his lordship, "you know what
to do, kiss me Hardy". The Captain then knelt and kissed his
cheek. His lordship said "Now I am satisfied. Thank God. I have
done my duty".
Kiss
Me Hardy itself is located in a retail park and offers quality
food and drinks as well as an excellent place for conversation in
comfortable surroundings. Our food can be chosen from a varied main menu
with dishes to suit the whole family. We are children friendly with a purpose
built Wacky Warehouse to keep the young ones amused and special party
packages are available. Our Wacky Warehouse is now adult
friendly with fresh coffee, glossy magazines and grown up music. Everyone is welcome to come and
enjoy our great hospitality.
