Herne Tavern PhotoSet back off the main road in East Dulwich you will find Herne Tavern.  There is a bus stop triangle in front of the pub and Peckham Rye Park directly opposite.  This fairly large, traditional venue with 4 fireplaces (unlit), 3 separate areas and a conservatory is well known to the local residents.  It is popular with families as there is an outdoor play area for the young ones and a garden to chill out on a long summers evening.  We pride ourselves on the fact that this is a great place to make conversation with no loud music blasting out.  Ladies who come in feel very comfortable and don’t get any hassle.  It is the people who make this such a special pub.  Everyone knows each other but all are made to feel very welcome.  In the words of Marion, the landlady, “strangers are friends we just haven’t met yet!”  If you are passing through make sure you put Herne Tavern on your ‘must visit soon’ list.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
