Grenadier pub Knightsbridge, London. The Grenadier is located down a private muse, owned by the Duke of Westminster.  This is a very British, famous pub, a gem in the city, with about 80% of our trade being tourist led, but those who know us visit again and again.  We are often frequented by celebrities and journalists and have many TV companies using us as a film location.  Situated close to Harrods we are within five minutes walking distance of three 5 star hotels - the Berkeley, the Mandarin Oriental and the Lanesborough Hotel.  Formerly an officers mess of the Grenadier Guards, this venue goes out of it’s way to offer you a traditional, friendly service.  You are greeted by the charming red, white and blue painted exterior, with it’s own sentry box outside the door and hanging baskets.  Inside is just as charming.  Small and cosy with traditional wood floors and one of only two pewter bars left in the country, which is polished daily. Military memorabilia such as bayonets and sabres adorn the walls.  The three original fireplaces each has a picture of the Duke of Wellington hanging above.  Candles are burnt all the time to create a warm atmosphere.  British homemade food is served daily, with all our food cooked to order and prepared from fresh ingredients.  There is nothing packaged or micro-waved about the meals here!  Choices range from fish finger sandwiches to delicious beef Wellington.  You can choose to dine anywhere in the pub, although bookings are advised for the restaurant to avoid disappointment.  Frederick is our resident ghost.  With many sightings and strange goings on in the pub, he lets you know he is there.  He used to be a Grenadier guard, and was caught cheating at cards.  He was flogged and it is rumoured that he then staggered downstairs to the bar, which is now the cellar and fell to his death.  People took sympathy on him and money is pinned to the ceiling to provide him with cash in the after life.  Come and visit this fascinating pub soon.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
