Devereux pub Strand, LondonIn a small private courtyard, tucked down an alleyway off the Strand, you will find the traditional English pub called The Devereux.  This is a listed building with plenty of history going back to the 17th Century.  The external walls are all original with a bustier of Robert Devereux the Earl of Essex on the corner of the building.  The bustier has to date the oldest recorded inscription in London.  Because of our age it's not surprising that many ghosts are said to reside here!  Nowadays the pub has a 56 seater upstairs restaurant with table service and a bar area downstairs where you can also dine.  We pride ourselves on offering our customers a superb choice of different drinks from standard beers to real ales and wines.  Because of our location we are a weekday pub with legal barristers and solicitors coming from the Royal Courts of Justice over the road.  Tony and the team of helpful staff await your visit.

When you visit the pub please let the staff know you have seen it on Pub Explorer.
